Tuareg Silver Cross of Ingall Earrings, Blue Jewel.

The Tuareg are North & West African Berber people typically inhabiting the Sahara Desert including Algeria, Mali, Libya, Niger and Burkina Faso and as far south as Northern Nigeria. The Cross of Ingall is traditionally worn in the hair as an adornment or as a pendant. Although Islam is practiced by the Tuareg, they retain much of their indigenous culture; descent and inheritance come from the maternal line.

An interesting custom is the Tam Tam Dance, where men on camel circle the women while they play drums and chat. These silver earrings feature a blue jewel and are handmade in Niger by the Tuareg, who are known for their craftsmanship in jewelry, especially silver.

Traditionally, Tuareg silver is an alloy, comprised of silver and other metals like brass, bronze, etc. Approximately 2" X .5" inch.

Handcrafted in Niger.
