Our Story

Tiye & Co. was born from a love and appreciation of people, language and culture. The founder of the company, Tiye, having lived around the globe from a young age, always appreciated the diversity of the world around her. As a young woman, she learned of her maternal ancestry, from the exotic and beautiful island of Madagascar, specifically, the Antakarana tribe. Spiritually, she would later develop an affinity to both Nile Valley culture -- comprised of the countries from Tanzania and Uganda to Egypt and Ethiopia -- as well as West African traditions, such as Akan and Yoruba.

Along her travels and spiritual journey, she learned of the international ruler Queen Tiye (1398-1338 BC), Great Royal Wife of Amenhotep III, who ruled Ancient Egypt during the 18th Dynasty. She was the daughter of Yuya and the Nubian Tuya. During her reign, not only did she continue and expand upon the important work of her husband, but she also introduced new fashions to the women of Kemet, the original name for Ancient Egypt. Beloved by her husband, she was addressed by many titles, none of which truly could describe her royal status, position and honor or the deep admiration her husband held for her. From her lineage would also come Akhenaton (Amenhotep IV), whose wife was the beautiful Nefertiti.

Tiye & Co. honors the legacy of Queen and Great Royal Wife Tiye -- held in high esteem by her husband -- international ruler, trendsetter and innovator and She whose name appeared along with her husband's on official documents during his reign. Tiye & Co. specializes in East and West African jewelry & accessories. We are pleased to bring selections to complement the beauty of the Divine Feminine and adorn her head to toe.
