South African Zulu Beaded Earrings.

These are colorful Zulu beaded earrings. South African Zulu jewelry is rich in traditional and cultural meaning. There is meaning behind the colors and shapes of jewelry. Typically, older sisters pass down the tradition to their younger sisters. Although men are not involved in making bead jewelry, they do wear beads.

Zulu beadwork conveys communication between the sexes as it relates to relationships; design and colors combined convey a message. The triangle is the only shape of bead used by the Zulu and their positioning signifies different meanings. For example, a downward facing triangle means a woman is unmarried; a triangle facing upwards signifies an unmarried man. There are many possible combinations of positions and their position will have a different meaning.

These are large, gorgeous handcrafted beaded Zulu earrings. You'll want to buy a few pair to mix and match your looks! Bright and colorful.

Approximately 3” from the hook.
