Oversized Gye Nyame Earrings.

The Gye Nyame symbol is a very important and powerful symbol, as well as arguably the most popular Adinkra symbol. It symbolizes the power and strength of God and expresses the deep faith of the Akan people, who come from Ghana and the Ivory Coast.

The Akan call the Supreme Being by many names and titles and the Gye Nyame represents God (Nyame) being omnipotent, omnipresent and omniscient. Literally meaning, "except God", the expression “Gye Nyame” can be used in many ways. For example, it could represent the need for God to intervene in a situation which supercedes man's ability to hand it, or it can signify the measure of faith an individual has in God.
