Nigerian Red & Black Leather Bracelet.

The importance of leather in West African culture dates back to the early BC era in Sub-Saharan Africa. Trade is recorded when contact from foreign traders and invaders occurred, with gold, cotton, metal, leather and other goods were traded for copper, horses, salt, textiles and beads.

The Nok culture, Serer and Sahelian people were among the early inhabits with the development of Songhai, Bambara and Fula/Malinke kingdoms, among others. The durability of leather and the skill of the people made it a trade favorite. When you wear leather from Africa, you are wearing a part of ancient history.

Red and black are also associated with the Orisha Elegba in Ifa. This handcrafted thick leather bracelet is red and black with white stitching. Classic design, easy closure.

Made in West Africa.
